"The goal was to create the world's nicest looking baseball bats and we've done that. The obvious thing to do next was to create additional products with the same world class design and finish."
The idea of marketing bats to corporations and organizations came when two Entrepreneurs got together about 15 years after they first met in college. One was calling on corporations for Internet Marketing consultation and one owned a Sales Development & Training Corporation. The two realized that there was a huge market for recognition gifts, but that same market lacked unique and creative personalized gifts that were really custom to the recipient - and thus GiftBats was born.
Immediately the two entrepreneurs came up with many scenarios in which corporations and organizations could utilize the personalized bats. The original "gift bat" on the market in the beginning was not impressive enough to satisfy their zeal for perfection. Thus after extensive research and development and hours of sweat they developed a proprietary process for coloring, logo-ing, and putting the furniture finish on bats to be sold into major
corporations of the world. The validation came when the two Entrepreneurs began the sales process into Corporate America and various baseball circles and discovered that the bats were a Big Hit!
Since such time many of America’s most recognized corporate names and some of the most well respected people in baseball have purchased their own bat to present to their respective customers, employees, sales representatives, teammates, and family members. You see, GiftBats, Inc. is not interested in branding our name as much as we are interested in helping corporations, teams, and individuals brand their names by utilizing the creation of “their” own official bat.
GiftBats was eventually trademarked and the term "gift bats" now referred to one company.
Warren Buffett has his own personalized GiftBat and Jim Cramer of CNBC's Mad Money can often be seen holding one of his (two) personalized GiftBats. In fact, Jim Cramer made a cameo appearance in the movie, IronMan, and chose to utilize one of his GiftBats in his cameo appearance. GiftBats has appeared in a number of promotional products catalogs as one of the "hot products". GiftBats has also appeared on a segment of Living In-Style, a TV show on the ION Network that showcased premiere recognition gifts.
GiftBats have been used as a gift on Air Force One as a "Presdential" Gift and have also been used on the campaign trail. Both Republican GiftBats and Democrat GiftBats have been used as campaign gifts. Several Presidential Candidates have their own GiftBat. GiftBats have been used as recognition gifts for dozens of charities.
GiftBats, Inc. has collegiate licensing with the two top Collegiate Licensing companies in America. We have worked with some of the top and most name recognizable companies in the world - The Home Depot, Ford Motor Company, Merrill Lynch, Bank of America, Hewlett Packard, Scotts LawnService, Baseball Hall of Fame - Cooperstown, and many many others.
Where we go from here...
We continue to improve on
and look for new opportunities and new products. The goal was to create the world's nicest looking baseball bats and we've done that. The obvious thing to do next was to create additional products with the same world class design and finish. We've added a few new products and we will continue to do so.
We're also looking into expanding into new markets. We released a division in Canada in 2009 and are looking to expand more divisions globally.
